InNotes is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and Safari that lets you keep private notes on LinkedIn contacts. This policy describes what data InNotes handles. The short version: everything stays in your browser.
Last updated 13 May 2026.
What InNotes doesn't do
- InNotes does not send your notes, contact data, or any other information to a remote server.
- InNotes does not contain analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, or third-party SDKs.
- InNotes does not require an account and has no sign-in.
- InNotes does not share data with LinkedIn or any other party.
What InNotes stores in your browser
InNotes saves the notes you write about your LinkedIn contacts in your browser's local extension storage. Each note is associated with a LinkedIn profile identifier so the extension can show the right note on the right profile.
This data lives only in your browser. It is not synced to any server we control. If your browser is signed in to a Chrome, Edge, or Safari profile that syncs extension storage across your devices, your browser may sync that data between your own devices — this is handled by your browser, not by InNotes.
You can export all of your notes to a file at any time from the extension's menu, and re-import that file to restore them. Uninstalling the extension removes the stored data.
Permissions
To display and edit notes inside LinkedIn profile pages, InNotes asks your
browser for permission to access linkedin.com tabs. The
extension only reads the parts of the page it needs to identify the current
profile and to inject the notes UI; it does not read your messages, your
feed, or any other LinkedIn data, and it does not transmit page content
anywhere.
Open source
InNotes is open source. You can read the full source code on GitHub and verify these claims yourself.
Children
InNotes is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. No information is collected about anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new last-updated date. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
